Cardinals legend Lou Brock dies Sunday afternoon at 81  —  St. Louis Cardinals' Hall of Famer Lou Brock, who had fought through a number of medical conditions in recent years, died Sunday afternoon.  He was 81.  —  Brock will be remembered for many accomplishments.

Cubs Claim Billy Hamilton  —  The Chicago Cubs claimed Billy Hamilton off waivers from the Mets today, per Jordan Bastian of MLB.com (via Twitter).  The Cubs also added Ildemaro Vargas to the active roster and designated Matt Dermody for assignment.  Bastian also reports that the Pedro Strop deal is official.

Tigers power past Twins to end losing skid  —  MINNEAPOLIS — Willi Castro, Grayson Greiner and Sergio Alcantara each hit home runs as the Detroit Tigers snapped a four-game losing streak with a 10-8 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 6, in Minneapolis.

Out of the box: Umps eject Nats GM Rizzo from luxury suite  —  Now this was an out-of-the-box ejection.  —  Washington Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo was tossed for yelling at umpires from a luxury suite in Atlanta on Sunday, with longtime crew chief Joe West saying, “enough is enough.”
