Outfielder brings right-handed bat, adds speed  —  GLENDALE, Ariz. — That “one more move” talked about by White Sox general manager Rick Hahn and executive vice president Ken Williams arrived Sunday, as the team agreed to a one-year, $5 million deal with free-agent outfielder Austin Jackson.

Orioles To Sign Pedro Alvarez  —  The Orioles have agreed to terms with first baseman Pedro Alvarez, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports on Twitter.  It's a one-year deal (pending physical) for the Scott Boras client, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports adds on Twitter.

Castillo Homers, Drives in 5 as Diamondbacks Beat Mariners  —  PEORIA, Ariz. — Welington Castillo homered and drove in five runs, leading the Arizona Diamondbacks over Seattle Mariners 10-8 Monday.  —  Castillo did all his damage in the game's first four innings, getting three hits.

Hosmer Hits 2-Run Double, KC Beats Cubs in Split-Squad Game  —  MESA, Ariz. — Eric Hosmer hit a two-run double to help the Kansas City Royals beat the Chicago Cubs 3-2 in a game between split squads Monday.  —  Hosmer's double in the sixth inning was followed by an RBI single by Salvador Perez.

Fan struck in head by broken bat at Blue Jays game  —  DUNEDIN, Fla. - A 59-year-old woman suffered blunt force trauma when she was struck in the head by a piece of a broken bat during Monday's Toronto Blue Jays exhibition game at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium.
