LaRoche's shoulder woes becoming issue  —  BALTIMORE — Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche was not in Sunday's lineup against the Orioles because of an ailing left shoulder.  In fact, LaRoche plans to get a second opinion on Monday to make sure that everything is OK with the shoulder.

Suspect in Dodger Stadium beating of Bryan Stow is in custody  —  Police this morning took into custody one of two men suspected in the opening-day beating of Giants fan Bryan Stow.  —  In the aftermath of the beating at Dodger Stadium, sketches of the suspects were placed on billboards in the L.A. area.

Chase Utley has left the building  —  It looks like Chase Utley has played his last game for Clearwater, at least for the time being.  According to several people down in Florida, including Phillies' prospect Jiwan James, Utley packed up his things last night in order to fly back to Philadelphia.

Gary Carter has multiple brain tumors  —  NEW YORK — Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter said doctors discovered four “very small” brain tumors after he had an MRI on Friday in Florida.  —  The 57-year-old Carter said he expects to learn more about his diagnosis when he is examined again Thursday at Duke Medical Center.
