Riske to have surgery  —  By Tom Haudricourt of the Journal Sentinel  —  Miami - The Brewers need relief help but it won't be coming from David Riske.  —  Brewers assistant GM Gord Ash reports that Riske will undergo elbow surgery today by specialist Lewis Yocum.

Braves send Schafer down to Gwinnett  —  Braves stuggling center fielder Jordan Schafer has been sent to Triple-A Gwinnett to regain his form, and the Braves have called up Gregor Blanco from Gwinnett.  —  Schafer was hitting .204 (34-for-167) with a whopping 63 strikeouts, which was the fourth-highest totals in the major leagues.

Kansas City reinstates elite closer Soria from DL … ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals reinstated closer Joakim Soria and shortstop Tony Pena Jr. from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.  —  Soria had been out since May 8 with a right rotator cuff strain.

Starting left side of infield sits for Dodgers  —  Blake, Furcal rest nagging injuries; Loretta, Castro get nod  —  LOS ANGELES — Hiroki Kuroda returned to the mound for the Dodgers on Monday night and probably needed an introduction to the left side of his infield.

Looking at Adrian's Home Runs  —  After last night's game, Adrian Gonzalez has now hit 21 home runs in 2009.  At his current rate, Gonzalez will finish the season with 66 home runs.  He will almost certainly smash his previous season high of 36 home runs, set in 2008.
