A Few Swings Turn Giambi's Season Around  —  Jason Giambi insisted he was not thinking about the possibility of making the American League All-Star team.  He moved his head from side to side and widened his eyes to punctuate his point.  Really, Giambi said and tried to show, it is something he has not pondered.

Parra quiets Twins as Brewers end Minnesota's win streak  —  MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Manny Parra allowed two hits in seven innings to win his sixth straight start and the Milwaukee Brewers beat Minnesota 5-1 on Saturday night to end the Twins' 10-game winning streak.

Phillies may demote RHP Myers to bullpen  —  ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)—Struggling right-hander Brett Myers could soon be out of Philadelphia's starting rotation and back in the bullpen.  —  Since winning consecutive decisions in mid-April, Myers (3-9, 5.84 ERA in 17 starts) is 1-8 in his last 13 starts.

Robertson to New York  —  Don't know yet who's coming down, but David Robertson is in New York.  Seems like his audition for the eighth inning will begin any day now, possibly tonight.  No doubt Robertson earned the opportunity.  He has a 1.64 ERA in Triple-A, with 48 strikeouts in 33 innings.

Ohlendorf to start in AAA  —  Word floating around the clubhouse last night was that Ross Ohlendorf was going to start when he got to Triple-A. But, seeing as the player who told me Ohlendorf might start also that said it might have been a joke, I didn't want to post anything just yet.

Billy Beane To Step Down In '09?  —  According to Tracy Ringolsby of the Rocky Mountain News, the A's assistant general manager David Forst has turned down all interview requests.  The feeling is that Forst is expected to take over for Billy Beane as Oakland GM as early as next season.

A sneak peak at Tim Beckham  —  Wednesday night I had the fortune of being in attendance for Tim Beckham's minor league debut with the Princeton Rays of the Appalachian League.  While Beckham only DH'ed during the game it was great to see the first overall pick in action and see his first hit as a professional.

Swisher helps White Sox slam Cubs  —  First baseman's home run caps seven-run third inning  —  CHICAGO — The tale of Friday's 10-3 victory for the White Sox over the Cubs, breaking a six-game losing streak against their neighbors to the North, certainly could be told by examining nothing more than the third inning.
