Albaladejo to DL with elbow injury  —  Yankees righty reliever will head to New York for MRI exam  —  DETROIT — Yankees right-hander Jonathan Albaladejo is headed to the 15-day disabled list after suffering an injury to his pitching elbow in Friday night's 6-5 loss to the Tigers.

Padres part ways with Edmonds  —  Eight-time Gold Glover released after sluggish start to season  —  SAN DIEGO — The Padres decided to sever ties with Jim Edmonds on Friday, releasing the 37-year-old, eight-time Gold Glove winner after he struggled offensively and defensively during the first month of the season.

A little news  —  MINNEAPOLIS - The Twins have to be upset by news of Pat Neshek going on the 15-day disabled list with a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.  A terrific set-up man in the past, Neshek was 0-1 with ba 4.73 ERA this season in 15 appearances.

Boomer a Bomber?  Fat chance  —  DETROIT - David Wells may want to pitch for the Yankees, but at this point, the Bombers don't appear to have much interest in bringing the aging lefthander back to the Bronx.  —  Wells, who turns 45 on May 20, is hoping to pitch a shortened season …

Florida Marlins working on $70 million deal with Hanley Ramirez  —  Lambasted for their major league-low $21 million payroll and perpetual trading of star players, the Marlins are finally keeping one in the fold.  —  Shortstop Hanley Ramirez told an acquaintance he has agreed to the framework of a six-year, $70 million extension.

Farnsworth's ban cut to one game  —  Following appeal, reliever misses Friday's contest in Detroit  —  DETROIT — Kyle Farnsworth had his suspension reduced from three games to one by Major League Baseball on Friday following an appeal by the Yankees reliever.
