Yankees hold off Rays  —  ST. PETERSBURG - Robinson Cano arrived at Tropicana Field Monday to find himself out of the lineup for the first time all season.  —  Having hit .170 while playing in each of the Yankees' first 13 games, Cano was being given a day off to rest his body and clear his head.

Formers Braves, Dodgers outfielder Holmes dies  —  BOCA RATON, Fla. — Tommy Holmes, an outfielder for the Boston Braves and Brooklyn Dodgers in the 1940s and 1950s, died Monday.  He was 91.  —  Holmes died of natural causes at an assisted living facility, daughter Patricia Stone said.
